Two Issues: Finances & Health

That’s about it.  When my wife, Dr. Malia and I talk to people about their lives, two things keep popping up.  Now, she’s the Dr. and obviously her focus is usually nutrition, body structure, injury issues, weight and emotional concerns.  As Health & Wellness coaches, we both are interested in others’ issues.

You know how many if not most people are concerned about their health?  It’s true.  Whether they realize their diet is junk, or junk food.  Or they absolutely see that their weight has to change.  (Usually downward.)  Maybe it’s Diabetes, or the need to be more regular, or needing more energy, or wanting better moods and relief from depression.  Maybe they work out and want to recover quicker.

We can help.

A lot of people are truly behind the 8 Ball financially.  Backed into a corner, struggling.  They fall into two categories and often want to find another job.  OR, they have heard about, or experienced others that have their own businesses and want to do that.  It has been said that an extra 400 a month would help avoid most bankruptcies, car-repos and even some divorces.  OK, I added the last one, but it makes sense, doesn’t it?

We can help.

Today’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser: ‘Bankruptcies fall, but businesses, individuals still struggle’  I can relate, and that is exactly what Malia and I hear.  WE want to hear from you.  Not just listen for  a minute and then try to fix.  Perhaps it would not be a good fit anyway.  But, as connectors/networkers/coaches/listeners/Christians/friends/fun people we would actually pay attention.

We are going on a fantastic inspired journey.  Perhaps you or someone you know wants to go too.

Rick Emmerich     rickemmerich@gmail.com

(Now, I wish this would go without saying, but I am not recruitable for your deal.  I do NOT need SEO, I am quite well off in that dept.  I am not a good candidate for your juice, or gadget, or get rich quick scheme, I DON’T BELIEVE IN ANY OF THOSE.  I welcome correspondence, but hate spam and those that want to pitch me on some deal without knowing who I am.  I’d rather you did not send me a broadcast call, because I am tired of playing that game where I set my phone down and you are billed for the time that I allow it to play.  You then may even waste your time calling me back several times.  That game has lost its thrill.)

After all that, I guarantee some will do those things, but it is well worth it, if someone else that wants to share and have a listener, actually gets through this disclaimer and is not afraid to respond.  And yes, even ONE person makes it all worth it.

Aloha, all the best to you.

Intelligent Oahuans, please speak out against Rail

WITH RAIL, the facts keep changing and the hidden truths eventually come out…………Rick Emmerich
There is NO guarantee that the Federal Government will come through with the funding that many on Oahu have been led to think that they are going to push through.  Even in the best of times, whatever that means, there would not be a guarantee.
But guess what, these are not the best of times.  Every legislator out there would want to be the person that finds 1.5 Billion to cut to save the US money.  Especially those crazy Tea Partiers or Republicans.  Wait, THEY wouldn’t do something to upset the Dems in this annoyingly Dem state.  OR would they?
Senator Inouye was in town and talking to, or as the newsman said, “lecturing” the Rail Board.  I assume the Board just sat back in awe of the dude, who is imposing, even in his advanced age.  Now I mean no disrespect, really (I want to be hangin’ around at that age too),  BUT he clearly did NOT say that the Feds are definitely going to come through with the funds.  What he said was “I believe he (Peter Roga of the FTA) is our friend.”
OK, just in case I am the only one NOT in awe of this guy…..I was paying attention.  The words Inouye said were NOT comforting for people that have been sold the bill of goods that the Rail was going to be built, largely using Federal Funds.  I mean, this thing has been rolling along as if the money was already in one of Oahu’s Banks, just waiting for the builders to finish up.
I think Inouye, who’s ‘in on this” has lied to us in the past, almost guaranteeing the money.  He clearly did NOT say that tonight, and I think he changed his tune.  He continued the Rail Pusher’s Propaganda with the “it will save traffic” statement as well.
Let’s WAKE UP and stop this MADNESS.  This project will Bankrupt Oahu.  It will lower the quality of life for thousands on Oahu in a lot of ways.  It won’t do what we have been led to believe, such as cut down commute times or eliminate traffic.
There is NO WAY the project will get done in a timely manner, big projects just don’t in Hawaii.  It is more likely that I build a snowman on Bethel Street tomorrow than this project comes in any where near the budget.
There is nothing allotted for the maintenance (if it ever gets done.)  Neighborhoods will be destroyed, and homes and businesses will be torn down to make this happen.  AND, now that the old guy has weighed in….
WE AREN’T GOING TO GET THE MONEY WE THOUGHT WE WERE PROMISED.
In the Bible we are the Foolish Builder.

Letter to Charles Djou about Rail

Hi,
I voted for you and have sent you a FaceBook messsage in the past.
Although I don’t spend a lot of time with politics, I have some strong
feelings and do voice them.
The Star-Advertiser did not print my latest letter so I sorta gave up taking
the effort to vent.
I find your letter Rail authority….very intelligent, but I really don’t think
the idea goes far enough.
I believe the thoughts you point out are a symptom of a much bigger
problem.  Rail, which is going to bankrupt this state has just been ac-
cepted by the public.
It seems like HI is incompetent at even keeping streets free of potholes.
The other 49, with all their inclement weather are better.
It seems like education needs intelligent ideas and truly lacks money,
but Rail is going to be a priority.  It seems like the programs that are be-
ing cut-like money for the mentaly ill Need MORE funding, not less, but
soon, Rail is going to cancel those thoughts.
There are many more areas that need attention and usually money,
but again, this Rail Conspiracy is going to take precedence.
Lots of people see that big business, like developers (and their con-
tributions) have a lot to do with Rail going through.  Mufi and now the
current mayor are/were staunchly for this monstrosity and Mufi had
a formidable propaganda machine in place.
What I predict:
1.  Rail will NOT cut commute times from Kapolei.  Do the math.  A person
will still have to get up early.  They may struggle to find a parking place at
the Rail stop.  Will it be free?  Will it be open, and what if it isn’t?  They still
have a walk, or bus, or cab? ride at the end of the trip unless they are one
of the few that end up very close to the stop.
2.  That rider may be standing all he way.  How comfortable is that?  I have
seen the Chicago commuters reading their Tribunes the whole way and
thousands of them live walking distance from their train stops.  That’s dif-
ferent.  It won’t be that way here.
3.  We have the best bus system in the nation, but that too, will suffer,
(see above) as the cuts come in to divert money to Rail.
4.  The sight line issues for hundreds of thousands of residents will lower
quality of life here.  The loss of the water views and even the view of the pub-
lic of the beautiful Harbor Court building and Aloha Tower will be disheart-
ening.
5.  The temporary jobs provided will only encourage those comapnies and
workers to clamor for next huge project to keep them employed.  I strongly
object to the notion that we should just pave over acres and acres of Ag
land out west and allow every new development to be built.  How bout we
face reality and keep Ag land so that we can be even a little more Self
Sustaining as a state.  If shipments for food to HI were delayed by even
4 days there would be massive problems-even panic.  Why not keep some
Ag land and use it.  As for the union workers out of work.  When will they
face reality and learn a new skill, or for that matter move to Vegas where
you can build stuff for the rest of your life.
6.  When and if this project ever gets done, our children and their children
will continue to pay for this thing with higher taxes and less services.
OK, there is more, and I have to work, but I know you are competent and
intelligent.  I feel relieved if someone will have seen my letter.
aloha, Rick Emmerich
Rick’s note.  This is the same letter, although I cleared up some typos.
Sorry Charles, no offense meant.  I obviously should have proofed it
before I sent it to you.

Who’s the Biggest Drug Pusher?

Y’all know that the big Pharma Cartels get away with murder.  Actually 200 BILLION Dollars worth of prescriptions were sold in a recent year.  2005, I believe.  There is a breakdown as to what types of meds and I will leave that for another blog.  I spent 15 dollars this year so far, and that is far below the average per citizen of 833.33 dollars (per year.)

As I speak there is a commercial for Lipozene.  Meanwhile Dr. Malia and I know that there are better products out there because we have been working with them.  However they are not advertised on TV due to the massive cost undertaking such a campaign.  MLM allows regular people like you and I to share the passion we all have for these cutting edge products.

Now, to get this out of the way, I am NOT a Dr. but I sleep with one (every night.)  She does know about nutrition, as well as the whole body.  The focus of a Holistic Chirpractor is to get to the root cause of issues, to get the body to a place where it can heal itself.

Medical Drs, or Internal Medicine Specialists prescribe drugs to treat symptoms.  They don’t get paid to find root causes most of the time.  In fact the Pharma Cartels have elaborate systems so they can distribute drugs to doctors who will gladly prescribe them after they have given out samples.

My good friend, who used to work in a group home where different types of medically challenged residents lived, shared this.  “The reps would come in with doughnuts and drug samples.  It was commonplace, once a month.”

It’s been many years and the Pharma Cartels are lovin’ their status in the United States.

But guess what?  Even though they seem to be winning the war for the lives of the citizens, alternatives have been here and been here for longer.  Despite the Cartels’ efforts to make natural and alternative methods illegal, there are a whole lot of us.  We know that nutrition, exercise, drinking Green (to alkalyze the body), keeping weight under conrol, eliminating the bad stuff, see below, and many other practises keep the MDs away.

Now, the list of ‘bad stuff’ should include:

Tobacco/Cigarettes, White Flour, White Salt, White Sugar, deep fried foods, dairy, canned foods (high in salt), SODA, too much alcohol, or caffeine.  Ice Cream, meats with their Nitrates and Nitrites.  And no matter what you eat, it’s bad to eat too quickly and for those (of us) who have a problem stopping what we are eating when we are full.

By the way, I didn’t say I was perfect, did I?  Certainly, I am working on my food issues.

I want to give a general idea that there are a lot of alternatives out there and consulting a holistic chirpractic and partnering with companies that have a variety of healthy products can gto a long way to improve your health.  go to http://www.honoluluchiropractor.net   and go ahead set up an appointment.  If you are on Oahu, it’s a short drive for you.  If you want a referral for a holistic chiropractor in your area just contact Dr. Malia through here website.

I suggest get fit, lose weight, be more active, and AVOID the prescriptions.  I HAVE lost 5 lbs. so far.

If you would like to have a weight loss program that is clinically tested and has great ideas about exercise and lifestyle besides the product, go to http://livonline.net/rickemmerich.com  If the fitness side of things is more important, Liv International has that too.  Same site.  or call me 808 371-6501

Rail Update-Rail Pushers Beware

Update:  Today, Sunday the 21st of August the Star-Advertiser FINALLY printed a solid article written by Hawaiian champions who happen to be against the Rail.  The paper had chosen NOT to print my last Letter to the Editor so I stopped writing them.   PLEASE READ the article in the Insight section.  I have been saying many of the things they share in this article for months.

Obviously the authors and guys that are bringing the lawsuit to try to bring Oahu to its senses-to STOP Rail, have more credibility than I do.  Heck, one’s a past Governor, Ben Cayetano.  So, please read that section.  If then you are still FOR Rail, then I would suggest that you live nowhere near where all the devastation, traffic jams, ruining of the view and constant noise will be happening along the route.  Either that, or you are a contractor that is getting money from the project.

Honolulu Magazine has a great, and I feel fair article about the Rail Project here on Oahu. I know the Rail Pushers won’t like it, because it brings things into the light. I understand how they want to fall back on the flawed public opinion vote that showed that 53% favored rail a few years back. If intelligent people of Oahu see even a portion of the whole picture I am confident they will rise up in protest.  Maybe someday, MOST of the backroom dealings, the costs that WILL go up, and the agreements/contracts awarded or promised will come to light.

I disagree with my friend Doug Chin.  Here’s his statement FOR Rail.  “This is going to make our city look great.  This is how the next generation is going to transport themselves.”  (Check that statement against the article I have mentioned…..)

First of all, a man who has children, to me, should have a say in this.  I don’t have kids, but I am deeply concerned about the future this will impact.

Doug, when your children are in their mid-twenties, the Rail MIGHT be done.  If they happen to live near enough to a station and choose to ride it, it will then really depend on a number of factors.  If the stars align and it is convenient for them at that time, yay.  Good for them.  No matter what, they are going to be paying for it.  The cost increases, the maintenance, the delayed construction that always happens here, the lawsuits that are attempting to stop it, even the firms that will be spraypainting over the grafitti that is plastered on the columns.  These plus other issues await.

They will be in a severe minority, or perhaps 2% of Oahu residents who COULD ride regularly.  This is my guess based on the small population ‘out there’ combined with a bunch of factors.  How many live near enough to the proposed stations to make it work.  Will there be parking?  Will it cost every day?  Will those people give up their freedom to complete other errands after work, in town that day?  Will they agree to stand the whole way-a real concern?  When the Rail gets to town, how far is their job/business from that stop?  Will they need a cab?  What if it’s raining when they get there?

How many in Waipahu will have their lives negatively impacted by the squealing of the steel on steel wheels that Heavy Rail uses?  What about the Federal Courthouse.  Rail will go within feet of that structure.

And there’s a reason why the judges have avoided this lawsuit-they are all against the Rail plans to almost bump up against that huge Federal Building as it makes it’s route toaards Ala Moana.  Of course THAT trial will be in San Francisco.  Maybe Hawaiian Air will offer free roundtrips to the attorneys for the trial period.  (NOT)

Doug I respectfully disagree.  I think like in the Bible, we will be the foolish builder and Oahu will be laughed at for this huge folly.  The bill will keep  coming and coming and coming for future generations (the grandkids) as well.

Anyone that would like to see this project being brought more into the light, let’s get the word out.  The propaganda machine that pushed this through on the ballot has done great harm to the island already.

Aloha, Rick Emmerich

I Got a Guy….

I’m the I Got a Guy Guy.  Not the original, of course.  But the new I Got a Guy Guy.  The original was Tommy, an Italian guy in Chicago.  Everyone in his family and neighborhood knew he could get something or someone when you were in need.

Another famous I Got a Guy Guy was Radar in M.A.S.H.  Lost a couple of you didn’t I?.  (Tommy was cooler.)

If you needed cable TV, He had a guy.  Want a dish, He had a guy.  Want to know how to rub a steak just right before you grilled it.  He was the guy.

And, when it started snowing in Chicago, He WAS the guy.  He was the one that told the snowplows where to go.  He routed them up and down the streets of the Windy City until the snow was removed.  He was the first one there and often, turned offf the lights when he left.  You could count on Tommy.

I can’t be as good as Tommy.  His legend lives on.  But I am a sorta hybrid I Got a Guy Guy.  I can do some things.  Now, I really want to share that if I don’t know something, or I DON’T got a guy-I will tell you.

But if you want a good restaurant in Honolulu, I got a guy.  You want to hear a story about that lost decade from 1975 to 1985, I can tell a few (true) stories.

Would you like to weigh less?  Alkalize your body, Detox?  Find a natural, healthy replacement for Viagra?  That’s me.  http://www.LivGreenHawaii.com

Lower your golf score, not so much.  Find a golf course on Oahu, THAT I can do.

You need a colonic, or a massage, or some earthworms, or some baby lion-eared bunnies, I got a guy-or gal.

Need a Chiropractor, my wife is the best (Holistic Chiropractic.)  See Dr. Malia/call 808 596-4853.  Honolulu, HI.

Want to get paid to play the Lottery?  Me again.  http://www.LotteryInHawaii.com

Go ahead, put me to the test.  Rick Emmerich

WOW

The early morning view from the beach here in Lanikai was clear, with Molokai and Maui in the distance beyond the Mokulua Islands.  (Those are the 2 islands you see in so many postcard like views promoting Hawaii, or travel or both.)

Since my wife and I have been so blessed to have been allowed to live here, we dreaded the day that is fast approaching.  The last one.  You see, this was temporary.  It takes quite a few more coins in your wallet than we presently have, to afford this.  Not to say that we won’t come back.

As this chapter ends, my lovely wife and I are moving closer to our offices.  That will allow us to make more money with the time saved that is now spent commuting.

If I thought they were reading this, I’d say a very loud thanks to our family members who extended this offer.

Anywho, as I jet off to the Big Island in the morning, my wife is here to continue the preparation for the move.

I just realized that I have not taken enough pics of this glorious area, so that will be a project in the remaining days here.

Lanikai

“Lanikai Oh Lanikai”, sung to the tune of Galveston, by Glenn Campbell.

It’s unbelievable here.  It’s now 2 AM and I am typing this in my loft office as the breezes dominate the sounds outside, rather than the old H-1 and 16th Ave. noises my wife and I were used to.  Around 11PM and sometimes midnight every night, it seemed there would be the extreme blasts of the fast cars or motorcycles on H-1.  I figured it was the exact time of shift change for HPD.

Honolulu seems like a distant memory to me already.

None of that here.  I guess the mansion next door has automatic sprinklers, cuz they just kicked in.  My wife would think it was raining.

For those of you who don’t know Lanikai, stick around.  When we were first offered the chance to stay here for a short while, I told Malia NO, and went over the list of reasons, so matter-of-factly, so logically.  I was Ben Franklin, with the legal pad with the pros and the right and the cons on the left.  By the way that method is over-rated, we all know we can manipulate the process.

Anyway, like many things, talking about Lanikai Beach, connected to Kailua Beach, is just NOT good enough.  It has to be experienced.  You could notice, some night in the area, how extravagant the moon and stars look through the tops of the palm trees, but chances are you’d miss it.

You could ‘luck out’ and catch a photo with the fading available light as the sun dips behind the mountain here.  You know, it is more of a hill, but mountain sounds good, doesn’t it?

You may catch a nice picture of the Mokes, (the Mokulua Islands), but not really ‘get it.’

There is really nothing like the daily “hey, I’m on vacation” feel here.  It is incredible to catch the various shades of shadowy light in the evening and snap as many ‘perfect’ pics as you want.  And I can’t wait to catch another unique sunrise from behind the Mokes.  In 3 more hours….ouch.

The beach is slowly eroding or disappearing….choose your word.  Even knowing that, it remains one  of God’s masterpieces.  It is great to join the tourists on the beach and just chill.  No one will bother you, and this whole area is filled with athletic or not-so-athletic types that are always jogging, swimming, boarding or paddling.

Our time here may be limited.  If this is heaven, God, I DO want to stay here forever.  Just wanted to get THAT out there.  We are so blessed.  Thank God I married wisely…..

Of course I will show pics soon.  But give me a minute, we just got the computer set up today.  So it’s me and the cats off to bed for now…………aloha

Honolulu International Christian Church Revival!

It seemed so….authentic, as we met for the first time with our new evangelist and the mission team.  We were at the home of Joe and Mary Santos, who had the courage to start their own house church 21 months ago, fed up with the doctrinal changes and the attitudes of their previous church.  My wife (Dr. Malia Emmerich) and I had watched from a distance as we were forced to endure some very ‘non-christian’ behavior from that very same church, that we still attended.  Not that this post is about me, but after a long period of thought, prayer and seeking of advice we were also ready to make the break later that winter. Last night, we were one with the new arrivals from the CAICC (City of Angels Intl. Christian Church)… CAICC.org and our new evangelist, Kyle Bartholomew.  Joe had fielded a recent call attempting to slander Kyle, but Kyle’s life and his passion to work for God are an open book.  And we expect the persecution.  When others see a sold-out committed movement that actively preaches the Word and expects others to live by the Bible, they feel threatened. Our World Missions leader, Kip McKean preached a fiery and fact-filled message that dipped into little known Old Testament (OT) details.  During his history of the movement, tears were shed, and many Amens were heard.  His wife Elena’s soft voice would frequently say "Preach it Babe." As Kip highlighted, they have been persecuted mightily, but continue to do God’s work, which has shown phenomenal growth in the last 3 years.  One year ago a similar but larger missions team went to LA, with 42 members.  Through much sacrifice and then, of course lots of hard work, 101 baptisms and many resorations and move-ins have taken place in the LA area.   Again, see CAICC.org. Sadly for many were the details of how the old ICOC churches changed doctrine when things got tough and controversial, and how much those chuches (no longer united) have fallen in conviction and membership.  Many of us had been a part of those fellowships and we love so many friends that have been left behind. I have documented some of these details almost ad nauseum in other forums, but may chose to get into the previous church changes at a later date, if it’s deemed relevent.  Also, please view "Hope For The Islands" on this same site. The kick-off of this new version of the Honolulu International Christian Church was a loud, boisterous affair, with great song-leading and sharing late into the night. For those that desire a strict and thorough adherence to Biblical teachings, with the zeal and desire to seek and save the lost, join us in Honolulu at the Mauna Kea Chapel at 1330 Mauna Kea across from Zippys.  That’s Mauna Kea and Vineyard, at 10AM on Sunday morning. Can’t make it to the island, then go to http://CAICC.org to find a congregation near you.  Also, http://honicc.org and http://honicc.com for those of you who want to follow our growing fellowship.    Rick Emmerich
