C’mon Hawaii, get a coach!

So far, I have been silent about University of Hawaii and their B Ball coach search. Now, I must speak up. I have the formula.
Here’s the plan.
1. Find a guy from around 34 to 44 who has children (and a wife.)
2. He should be very successful in the ‘mid-majors’ and that would pout him in the NCAA or NIT right now.
3. He would be excited by the prospect of moving to paradise and bringing his family.
4. Lure him with the prospect of putting his children through a top private scholl, like let’s say Punahou. (Obama and Michelle Wie’s school)
5. Let loose the purse strings already. Don’t let him hear the cries (or read the letters to the Editor) about the fiscal crisis here.
6. Figure out other perks and make sure his 2nd interview is here.
Now, the precedent is none other than Bruce Perl, who was tearin’ up in the Mid Majors at UWM, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee featuring epic battles with perennial NCAA visitopr, Butler and fellow league members, U. of Illinois at Chicago, and U. of Wisconsin Green Bay.
He then took them on a glorious campaign through the NCAAs about 6 years ago, all the way to the Elite Eight. Now he’s stylin’ in a (bright) Orange sports coat on the Tennessee Basketball sideline.
If we are lucky at UH, he’ll be as grateful and loyal as Mr. Perl (nice win today over SDSU, btw.) Don’t tell this guy that the job will be tough. Just make him think it’s all rainbows and shave ice.
If ‘he’s’ out there, go get him, NOW. (How bout that guy at Butler) Rick Emmerich
